SUMMARY:MEDtalks webinar – Does insulin still have a place in the management of hyperglycaemia in T2D?
DESCRIPTION:Insulin\, our first pharmacotherapeutic agent and King\, is almost a centenarian – but is it time for the old King to abdicate? Are GLP1-RAs the rightful heirs to the injectable kingdom or simply adolescent upstarts needing to earn their right to the throne? \nJoin us for this lively and entertaining MEDTalk presented by three prominent GPs with deep expertise in diabetes as they debate whether\, in this new realm of diabetes management\, the older sovereign\, insulin\, should now be consigned to the retirement village of history. \nLearning outcomes \n – Analyse updated recommendations in new Australian and international T2D management guidelines in relation to injectable therapies.\n – Develop a person-centred model of T2D care to optimise both individual quality of life and clinical outcomes.\n – Identify clinical situations where GLP1-RA and insulins may provide improved outcomes in T2D management.\n – Apply the most appropriate injectable therapy to provide optimal person-centred T2D care. \nEarn yourself 3 RACGP points or 2 ACRRM CPD hours by participating in this high-impact webinar.

SUMMARY:ThinkGP live webinar – Dementia in diverse groups
DESCRIPTION:As in many therapeutic areas\, cultural and linguistic diversity has an impact on the recognition\, diagnosis and management of dementia — but the ‘how’\, ‘why’ and ‘what to do’ for people with dementia in diverse groups can be tricky to navigate in busy primary practice. \nJoin us as we explore different clinical presentations of dementia in people with cultural differences. This highly practical presentation includes social\, family and other considerations related to people in cultural and linguistically diverse groups\, who have dementia. We’ll help you understand and navigate through these considerations so you can provide optimal dementia care. \nBring your curly questions too! Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with\, and ask questions of the panel. \nDate and time: 5 November 2020\, 7:00pm – 8:30pm AEDT \nDuraton: 1.5 hours \nProfessional development: 3 RACGP CPD points/2 ACRRM PDP hours \nLearning outcomes: \nBy completing this learning activity\, participants will be able to: \n– Identify the potential different clinical presentations of dementia in the context of cultural difference.\n– Develop strategies to overcome the impact of cultural diversity on the recognition and diagnosis of dementia.\n– Consider the aspects of cultural diversity which may impact on the care and management of people living with dementia.
