SUMMARY:CTEC's The Cutting Edge: Advanced Procedures Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Cutting Edge: Advanced Procedures workshop is a unique hands-on\, cadaveric dissection focused skills training workshop. It is designed to provide GPs with a higher than average level of skill in surgery and access to appropriate levels of equipment and operating facilities with the opportunity to refine and consolidate their surgical techniques. This enables the provision of a greater level of service to patients and the community.  \nThe Advanced Procedures workshop aims to equip GPs with a reliable foundation in advanced procedural skills. It is an excellent advanced level course. It does not provide certification of competence in any of the procedures outlined and practised. Limited positions are available for Observers\, and for Theatre Nurses in the role of assistant. \nWORKSHOP CONTENT\nProcedures are first covered by a didactic presentation followed by a practical cadaveric session with only 2 participants per station. Delivered in WA Country Health Service facilities\, this workshop has a heavy emphasis on teamwork and the organisation of medical emergency teams incorporating presentations\, skill stations and scenario-based crises with simulation manikins (SimMan and baby). \nEligibility: GP anaesthetists and theatre staff.
